Do You Need Your Remote Driving Tip?
Customers often ask us "Do I need to notify my movers when I move away?". Of course, tip-giving is by no means necessary in any way. However, if you feel your mover is doing a great job, you may want to thank them with a tip. The next obvious question is "How many driving tips?"
According to a survey of members of Angie's List, the category "Movers" is cited by the highest number of survey respondents as the category where they are most likely to leave a tip. Reading that makes everyone here in Garrett feel so grateful for being so appreciated by our wonderful customers!
How Many Tip Movers?
We do not want to look biased here, so we switched to some reputable sites for tips on tip levers. Here's what we found:
Movers.com - "$ 5 per hour per mover. This will amount to $ 50 for a full day's work, and $ 100 for a two-day job. "
Angie's List - "For light moves, tip $ 10 to $ 20 per move. For larger gestures, a $ 20 to $ 50 tip is appropriate. "
iTipping.com - "The typical range runs $ 40- $ 200 per person for multi-day moves."
However, the site notes that many of the big companies they talk to say that tip-giving is not expected, and it's up to the customer. Also, some moving companies already know with forecasts moving long distances.
We would advise to call your mover ahead of time to see what they suggest about how many tip switchers are.
Tip on Both Ends?
If you decide to tip, make sure and check that you will have one packing crew and load your stuff, and another that really moves your stuff over long distances. If so, you'll know whether you need to tip your first crew after they pack the truck or whether they can wait until delivery is delivered.
What About Tipping by Percentage?
Although many sites out there recommend giving tip as a percentage of the total cost of removal, we do not recommend it, especially if it is a long distance transfer.
This is the reason. The cost of removal includes many different things. This includes not only labor, but also fuel costs. Tip can be very expensive if done with a percentage.
Tip with Food
If you've ever been part of a movement, you know that it's hard work (maybe that's why you hired the mover in the first place!). And all that hard work will definitely make the crew move you hungry and thirsty.
So, imagine their fun as you surprise them with snacks and cooler drinks. They will greatly appreciate the fuel for the long journey ahead. If you're really happy with the way they charge your stuff, consider even buying them lunch and / or dinner.
